Plenary Session 1
Recent Developments and Future Challenges in HE Quality Assurance and their impact on quality of engineering education

CHAIR: Bohdan Macukow (KAUT)
Bohdan Macukow has worked at the Warsaw University of Technology since 1969 and he is currently a professor. In the years 1999-2001, he was a member of the Commission for Accreditation of Higher Vocational Schools, and in 2002-2007, he was a member of the State Commission for Accreditation.
Currently, he is the chairman of the Commission for Accreditation of Technical Universities (KAUT). Since 2013, he has been a member and since 2019 he is the chair of the EUR-ACE® Label Committee of ENAEE. His current research interests are in the areas of applied computer science, mathematical and computational modelling of recognition systems and associative memory.

KEYNOTE 1: Jose Carlos Quadrado, Vice-President of ENAEE
TITLE: “International accreditation as a key for technological diplomacy worldwide”
Jose Carlos Quadrado holds a BSc in Energy and Power Systems, a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation and Industrial Electronics, an MSc and a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computers from the University of Lisbon. He also holds the Habilitation degree (Aggregation) in Electrical Eng. from Beira Interior University. He is a full professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and heads the Portuguese observatory TELESCOPI.
Prof. Quadrado is currently the Vice-President of ENAEE, member of the International Division of ASEE and the Accreditation Committee of the Kazakhstan Society of Engineering Education (KazSEE). He is the past president of IFEES, LACCEI, ASIBEI, and the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, and of the Portuguese Association of Engineering Deans (APDI2E), and the past Vice-President of SEFI. He has been involved in more than 200 international publications and patents and occupied editorial positions in scientific journals. His academic work is mainly related to renewable energy, fuel cells, electric vehicles and intelligent control.
Being a global organization, ENAEE, which has emerged from the European values, is committed to assume its role worldwide in the field of technological diplomacy as it works to foster stability, security and prosperity, democracy, fundamental freedoms, and by respecting the different cultures at international level.
ENAEE grants the EUR-ACE® label through authorized agencies. EUR-ACE® is a framework and accreditation system that provides a set of standards that identifies high-quality engineering degree programmes globally. These programmes will equip future engineers worldwide with the capacities and skills needed to embrace complex technical and societal challenges.
Moreover, ENAEE aims to enhance the overall quality of engineering education globally, by supporting the development of national QA systems for engineering education and supporting the academic and professional mobility between countries with a wide diversity of education systems and professional regulations.
Workshop 1
Institutional Accreditation

MODERATOR: Cyril Burkley (EI)
Cyril Burkley graduated from University College Cork with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and obtained a Ph.D. degree from the National University of Ireland. He took research in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands before joining the University of Limerick, initially as a Lecturer later as a Professor of Telecommunications. He served as the Head of the Electronics and Computer Engineering Department and subsequently as the Dean of the College of Informatics and Electronics.
His academic career has included a range of Irish, European and International funded research projects, with over 75 publications and the supervision of a significant number of Master Degrees and Ph.D. graduates. He participated in Engineers Ireland Accreditation Programme activities and joined as a member of the Accreditation Board. He participated in programme Accreditation reviewing in both European EUR-ACE and Washington Accord Accreditation activities. He is the Chair of the Engineers Ireland Accreditation Board and the Engineers Ireland representative on the EUR-ACE Label Committee.

CO-MODERATOR: Madhu Chandra (ASIIN)
Madhu Chandra studied mathematics and physics at the Universities of Cambridge, London and Salford, obtaining B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees, respectively, in 1978 and 1981. After serving in the academic staff at the University of Bradford (UK) and as group leader at DLR (German Aerospace Research Centre), Prof. Chandra has been holding, since 2001, the chair for Microwave Engineering and Electromagnetic Theory at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany.
Prof. Chandra’s area of research interest and expertise include: Multi-parameter radars, wave propagation and scattering, and remote sensing. Prof. Chandra has been actively involved In the area of accreditation of electrical engineering programmes and institutions since the year of 1999.

TITLE: “FINEEC concept of institutional quality audits”
Kati Isoaho is the Senior Evaluation Advisor at FINEEC since 2015. She has 20 years of experience in the field of higher education development, administration and external quality assurance. She is responsible for the national development of the EUR-ACE accreditations at FINEEC.

CONTRIBUTOR 2: Berchtold von Steiger (AAQ)
TITLE: “Institutional accreditation to strengthen the autonomy of Swiss HEIs”
Berchtold von Steiger has been a project manager at the Swiss agency of accreditation and quality assurance since 2010. He coordinates the internal quality assurance of the agency and the accreditation programmes in Switzerland. He is in charge of promoting EUR-ACE accreditation of Swiss engineering programmes. He obtained the degree of Environmental engineer at EPFL in 1984. He carried out teaching and research activities at ETH Zurich for 12 years.
Since 1998 he has been active as a specialist in higher education policy, internal and external quality assurance in HEIs, the European Higher Education Area and the Bologna Process.

Accreditation of Online Programmes and Online Evaluation/Audit of Programmes

MODERATOR: Jacques Bersier (AAQ)
Jacques Bersier studied mechanical and electro engineering at the University of Applied Sciences (1975/1978). He has several years of work experience in the engineering industry, both in Switzerland and the United States. Since 1984 he has been a professor of mechanical engineering and numeric simulation at the College of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg. In 1994, he obtained a degree in Business Informatics at the University of Fribourg.
Since 2003, he has been Deputy Director of the College of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg and Head of Applied Research and Development. He has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Universities in Applied Sciences of the Swiss Center for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (OAQ). Since 2009, he has been an affiliate member of the Center for Competitiveness of the University of Fribourg. Since 2014, he has been a member of the EUR-ACE Label Committee, representing the Swiss Agency of Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AAQ).

CO-MODERATOR: Anne-Marie Jolly (CTI)
Anne-Marie Jolly is a Doctor Engineer and a Professor in Process Control. She has been the Dean of Polytech Orleans, an HEI of engineering at master’s level. Later, as Vice-President of the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur, she focused on accreditation processes and quality assurance.
She is an expert on engineering education in many countries and is currently a member of the EUR-ACE Label Committee of ENAEE.

CONTRIBUTOR 1: Michael K.J. Milligan (ABET)
TITLE: “Accreditation of online programmes”
Michael K. J. Milligan is the executive director and chief executive officer of ABET since 2009. Prior to that, he was a systems director at the Aerospace Corporation. During his 24-year career as an officer in the USAF, he was an associate professor and Deputy Department Head in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, his M.S.E. from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and his B.S. from Michigan State University – all in electrical engineering.
He also earned an M.B.A. in Business Administration from Western New England College, is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado and Maryland, and a Certified Association Executive (CAE). He is also a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, IEEE Eta Kappa Nu Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society, and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

CONTRIBUTOR 2: Kseniya Zaitseva (AEER)
TITLE: “Online evaluation/audit of programmes”
Kseniya K. Zaitseva is a member of the Association for Engineering Education in Russia (AEER). Since 2010 she has been responsible for AEER’s international cooperation activities. Since 2017, she holds the position of Director of the AEER Accreditation Center. In the context of academic activities, she has been a faculty member of Tomsk Polytechnic University since 2009 and currently holds the position of associate professor. Her research focuses on quality assurance, active learning and international cooperation. As an international expert in quality assurance, she has participated in numerous visits within the framework of international professional accreditation of educational programmes (with EUR-ACE and Washington Accord recognition) in Russia and abroad.
Currently she is a member of the ENAEE Label Committee. As a trainer, she facilitated quality assurance workshops and trainings in international accreditation in Russia and abroad (Central Asia, Latin America, USA, China).
Plenary Session 2
Globalization of EUR-ACE® Label Programme Accreditation: Bridges and Synergies

CHAIR: S. Birgül Tantekin-Ersolmaz, Vice-President of ENAEE
S. Birgül Tantekin-Ersolmaz has been with the Department of Chemical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) since 1991. Prof. Tantekin-Ersolmaz’s research interests are in the field of membrane science and technology and polymer and polymer-based composite materials.
She is one of the founding members of MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programmes). She was a member of the Executive Board of MÜDEK in 2007-2010 as Treasurer and in 2010-2013 as Vice-Chair. Since 2016, she has been a member of ENAEE’s Administrative Council and is currently Vice-President of ENAEE.

KEYNOTE 2: Damien Owens, President of ENAEE
TITLE : “Consistency in a world gone mad – Assuring the quality and relevance of engineering education in a dynamic world”
Damien Owens is a Fellow and Chartered Engineer and the Registrar for Engineers Ireland. His role involves ensuring the academic standard of engineering qualifications and adherence of membership criteria to best international standards. He represents Engineers Ireland on international matters, is the current president of the European Network for Engineering Education (ENAEE) and Chairman of the International Engineering Alliance. These organisations set standards for engineering education and mobility for the engineering profession.
He previously worked in the telecommunications and IT sector. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin with Bachelor and Master degrees in engineering and an MBA from the Open University.
Engineering is a global career, whether engineers travel or not the outputs of their work may be globally available. It is therefore important that there is confidence for employers, academics, society and engineers that engineering graduates have attained a threshold of knowledge and competence to practise safely and be aware of the impact of their work.
Providing this confidence is a challenge – there are different education systems and assessment systems; different regulatory regimes, a changing external environment, an even more rapidly changing technical context which the engineers are creating, new methods of teaching and delivery and lastly the expectations of the students coming into engineering education.
This is a complex topic with ever changing boundaries. One aspect of an engineering education is the ability to address complex, ill-defined problems. So, how do engineers address this problem? This presentation explores many of the seemingly competing demands on accreditation agencies and how quality assurance can best be achieved.

KEYNOTE 3: Elizabeth Taylor, International Engineering Alliance – WA
TITLE: “Developments in the International Engineering Alliance/Washington Accord”
Elizabeth Taylor specialises in governance effectiveness and ecosystem analysis. Following a career in industry as a design and construction engineer, she moved into academia, finishing her academic career as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health, CQ University. Since 2013 she has undertaken numerous independent assurance reviews and smart buyer analysis of complex engineering projects. She has built up extensive Board-level leadership in professional organisations and innovative technology entities. She currently serves as Chair of SmartCrete Collaborative Research Centre and of Washington Accord, and Deputy Chair, Governing Group, of the International Engineering Alliance.
Elizabeth is an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow, Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. She is recognised as one of Australia’s 100 most influential engineers.
The International Engineering Alliance (IEA) facilitates global engineering mobility and educational and practice quality assurance through mutual recognition of substantial equivalence under the relevant Accords (education) and Agreements (registration/chartered). The Washington Accord covers professional engineering education.
The IEA is engaging with current change, exploring pathways through the challenges, opportunities and status quo shifts that change brings. Two areas in particular are driving IEA transformation of business as usual. The environmental-socio-geopolitical landscape is shifting rapidly and this has, and will increasingly have, significant impact, with poverty, inequality, climate, and environmental degradation borne heavily and inequitably across our IEA Membership.
COVID-19 has altered our world and the emergence of variants highlights that this is not a short term, temporary situation. Our pivot towards virtual mechanisms for communication, engagement and commerce will become the new living/business-as-usual. This raises significant issues for economies, education, communities and families and for quality assurance and mobility entities. This presentation will explore IEA responses.
Workshop 3
EUR-ACE® Standards: How To Meet Global Challenges and QA Requirements

MODERATOR: Guillermo Calleja (ANECA)
Guillermo Calleja is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid). He was the founding Rector of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Secretary General of the Universidad Computense de Madrid. He received a Ph.D. Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Computense de Madrid in 1976. He is a visiting professor at the University of California-Santa Barbara (USA) and the Universidad de los Andes-Bogotá (Colombia).
He was Executive President of the Quality Agency for the Madrid University System and member of the Advisory Board of the “Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación” and of the “Board of International Advisors” of the Monterey Institute of International Studies (California, USA). He is the ANECA delegate to EUR-ACE Label Committee.

CO-MODERATOR: Simona Lache (ARACIS)
Simona Lache is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania. Her research interests are in material mechanics, structural dynamics, lightweight structures. She has been Vice-Rector for Quality Evaluation and is responsible for the internationalisation of the University. She has extensive expertise in quality assurance of higher education. At international level, she is a member of the steering committee of IEP-EUA and a reviewer at IEP-EUA, ENQA and FINEEC.
She is an international expert in the SHARE Project and member of the EUR-ACE Label Committee of ENAEE. She cooperates with the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), as an expert evaluator since 2007 and holds the position of member of the Board of Directors since 2015. She was involved in different projects related to RE systems and RE quality assurance. She has also been involved in several European projects related to the development of transnational cooperation between universities and businesses.

TITLE: “Sustainable development goals and engineering attributes”
Arif Bülent Özgüler has been with the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Bilkent University in Ankara since 1986. Professor Özgüler’s research interests are in the area of control theory, game theory, and application of system theory to social sciences. He is a founding member of MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs, Turkey). He was Vice Chair of the Executive Board of MÜDEK in 2007-2010 and Chair of MAK (Engineering Programs Accreditation Board) of MÜDEK in 2017-2018.

CONTRIBUTOR 2: Marta Kosior-Kazberuk (KAUT)
TITLE: “Revision of EUR-ACE® Framework Standards and Guidelines 2021”
Marta Kosior-Kazberuk holds the degree of DSc, PhD, Eng. She is Vice-Rector for Education and International Cooperation and Rector of the Technical University of Bialystok, Poland. She is Head of the Department of Building Structures and Architecture and Vice Dean of Student Affairs) of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, responsible for the improvement and modernisation of the educational process, quality of education and accreditation of study areas.
She is a member of the ENAEE Administrative Council, the Accreditation Commission of Technical Universities (KAUT), the Bialystok Committee for Accreditation of Vocational Education and expert of the Polish Accreditation Commission (PKA). She is a coordinator of various projects on the modern educational process and of international scientific work programmes. She is an active member of central institutions supported by the Polish state. She is the author of 12 publications on the educational process in higher education.

CO-MODERATOR: Pedro Mêda Megalhaes (OE)
Pedro Mêda holds and Msc degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management at Porto University Faculty of Engineering (Portugal). He works as Civil Engineer and Researcher at the Instituto da Construção an interface institution of Porto University with the industry. He is also part of Ordem dos Engenheiros where he took up during the last years several roles. He is continuously involved in applied research, R&D&I Projects and Training actions with construction industry stakeholders either in Portugal or abroad, mainly in information systems, information requirements through construction life-cycle, construction products, costs and public procurement. He participated in education discussions and worked on a comparative study for the definition of conpetencies for Civil Engineers.
He is a member of ISO/TC 59 SC 13, CIB W078, EC3 HDI – Human Data Interface and DSCiBE – Digital Supply Chain in Built Environment committees. Is Associate Editor of the ICE – Journal of Management, Procurement and Law and reviews for other scientific journals. He is since 2018, member of the ENAEE Label Committee.

TITLE: “ICACIT and Latin America on the way to the EUR-ACE®”
Enrique E. Alvarez Rodrich has a long board and management experience in companies in sectors related to the commercial sector, foreign trade, media, hydrocarbons, education and services. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electronics from the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería in 1984 and an MBA from the Universidad del Pacífico in 1993. Enrique has been an IEEE member for 34 years. He has held various volunteer positions and been a member of several Latin American and worldwide IEEE committees. Currently, he is the general manager of CREATECH INGENIERIA Y PROYECTOS S.A.C. and president of the board of directors of ICACIT, where he has been a volunteer since its foundation (18 years).

CONTRIBUTOR 2: Claudio Borri (QUACING)
TITLE: “Efforts last decade EUR-ACE® going global”
Claudio Borri studied Civil Engineering at the Univ. of Florence (Italy) and at the Ruhr-Univ. of Bochum (Germany), where he obtained the degree of Civil Engineering in 1978 and the Ph.D. in Structural Mechanics in 1982 (in Florence and Bochum). He was appointed Research Assoc., Assoc. Professor and later on as Full Professor of Computational Mechanics and Chair of Wind Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Florence. He has served as Vice-Dean for International Affairs for two decades (1992-2012). In 1992, he co-founded, and then directed, the CRIACIV Interuniv. research center, a position he held until the end of 2012. In October 2012, he became Dean & Head (Direttore) of the Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, DICEA, of the Univ. of Florence (2012 – 2017).
Prof. Borri is a Past President of SEFI (Brussels, 2005-07), 1st and Founding President of IFEES (Washington DC, 2006-08), Co-founder of ESOEPE (Standing Observatory on Engrg. Profession and Education) which then became ENAEE. As co-founder, he has served in the AC of ENAEE for 7 years.
Prof. Borri has promoted and coordinated numerous EU projects in the subject of Engineering Education, QA and accreditation, international dimension of HEE (including three large Thematic Networks and several TEMPUS JEPs). From 2012 till 2016, he coordinated the ever largest EU project on accreditation of EE, extending the EUR-ACE label in 4 countries of Central Asia (QUEECA project).
He is Editor/Co-Editor of 9 books, Author/Co-Author of more than 340 scientific publications.

Teaching-Learning Environment and Assessment of Outcomes

CHAIR: Vincenzo Tucci (ENAEE AC Member)
Vincenzo Tucci has been a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Information and Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics of the University of Salerno (Italy) since November 2000. His scientific activity focuses on electromagnetic characterisation and processing of materials, electrical modelling of nanocomposites and polymer composites, design and optimisation of components for electrical and electronic engineering. He has been responsible for research units in EU-funded programmes. He is a member of the Ph.D. programme in “Information Engineering” and has been the coordinator of the Centre for Quality Assurance at the University of Salerno since 2018.
He is an ENAEE member and, since 2019, he is the director of the Italian agency QUACING. Since 2015 he has been a registered expert for the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR). He is a member of the European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN). He is a Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE TC11 Nanotechnology and a member of AEIT.

KEYNOTE 4: Aldert Kamp (CDIO Co-Director)
TITLE: “If we don’t want them to focus on passing exams but learning for life”
Aldert Kamp is the Co-Director of the CDIO Initiative and in the past has been the Director of Education at TU Delft Faculty of Aerospace Engineering (2007-2020) and Delft leader of 4TU.Centre for Engineering Education (2014-2020). He has been closely involved in the rethinking of higher engineering education with a horizon up to 2030. More than 20 years of industrial experience in space systems engineering, 19 years of academic teaching, educational management and leadership, and an in-depth study of trends in society, engineering business, science and technology and higher engineering education have made him a thought-leader in the future of engineering education.
He is the author of “Engineering Education in a Rapidly Changing World” and “Navigating the Landscape of Higher Engineering Education”. Since July 2020 he is self-employed in his one-man business Aldert Kamp Advies.
The keynote addresses the dilemmas in making engineering education future-fit. These are caused on the one hand by the changing needs of society, the shifting requirements for sustainable employment, the traits and behaviour of the Gen-Z students, the digital transformation, the role AI is going to play in the engineering profession, and the opportunities by online learning. On the other hand there is the university with its disciplinary structure, its rituals and traditions in the pedagogical methods and linear curricula, the recruitment, continuous professionalisation and award system for academic excellence, the exam regulations and accreditation regime.
To invest in future generations many programmes have to shift towards more socially-relevant and outward-facing curricula and prepare the graduates for a lifelong career in the digital era. This requires major changes in the teaching and learning environment. Not seldom are facets of the assessment of outcomes on course as well as programme level, used as an excuse to act as they have always done. The keynote is a call upon accreditation agencies to stimulate and guide institutions and programmes to find the courage to act beyond as they have always done and create momentum in this challenging situation.

KEYNOTE 5: Yolande Berbers (SEFI President)
Title: “Challenge-Based Learning: Many Opportunities”
Yolande Berbers obtained the MSc degree in Computer Science from KU Leuven (Belgium) in 1982 and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science in 1987. She was the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at KU Leuven from 2009 to 2016. She is currently responsible for the entrepreneurship programmes in the Faculty of Engineering. She was the vice-president (2017-2019) and is currently the president of SEFI, the European Society for Engineering Education (2019-2021).
Her research interests include ubiquitous computing, context-aware computing, middleware, cloud computing, mobile computing, and software engineering for embedded software. She has over 80 scientific publications in the past five years, and has participated in numerous international research projects. She teaches courses on operating systems, computer architecture, and software for real-time and embedded systems.
Challenge-Based Learning engages students to find solutions for real-world problems. The challenges can come from companies, the public sector (a city for example) or from other social actors such as NGO’s. Students, most often in interdisciplinary groups, come up with solutions and develop a prototype. Challenge-Based Learning motivates students, teaches them new competencies that they will be able to use in their future careers, fosters an entrepreneurial mindset in the student, and in general will let students grow in their personal development.

Good Practices In Learning Outcomes Assessment

MODERATOR: Anne-Marie Jolly (CTI)
Anne-Marie Jolly is a Doctor Engineer and a Professor in Process Control. She has been the Dean of Polytech Orleans, an HEI of engineering at master’s level. Later, as Vice-President of the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur, she focused on accreditation processes and quality assurance. She is an expert on engineering education in many countries and is currently a member of the EUR-ACE Label Committee of ENAEE.

TITLE: “Expected evidences for achievement of programme outcomes. A MÜDEK perspective”
Erbil Payzin holds BS, MS and PhD degrees in Electronics Engineering and is an associate professor in telecommunications. Between 1966-1995, he worked in the Middle East Technical University, ASELSAN Electronics Inc. (Ankara), in Satellite Communications Branch at the Shape Technical Centre (The Hague, Holland) and as the general manager of STFA SAVRONIK Electronics Inc. (Istanbul). Between 1995 and 2016, he was managing partner of PAYZIN Consulting Ltd. Dr. PAYZIN is a founding member of MÜDEK and has chaired more than 30 MÜDEK evaluation teams since 2003.
He has served as the Chair of MÜDEK Accreditation Board), as the Chairman of MÜDEK Board of Directors and is currently the coordinator of MÜDEK Advisory Board. He has served as the member of the ENAEE Administrative Council and the EUR-ACE Label Committee and the ENAEE Internal Auditor.

Open Workshop: Questions on Accreditation

MODERATOR: Timur Doğu (MÜDEK)
Timur Doğu is Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. He holds BS, MS and PhD degrees from METU, Stanford University and the University of California at Davis. He has spent most of his academic career at METU. He became a full professor in 1985 and was Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at Ankara University from 1985-1988. He also worked as a visiting professor at McGill and McMaster Universities in Canada.
Since 2019, he has been the president of MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs). He was a member and chair of the Label Committee of ENAEE. In addition, he has contributed as a reviewer or team chair to a number of accreditation visits of engineering programs in Turkey and several European countries. He is the author of over 160 scientific publications and is a member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences.

CO-MODERATOR: Sergey Gerasimov (AEER)
Sergei Ivanovich Gerasimov is a member of the Accreditation Board of the Association of Engineering Education of Russia (AEER). He obtained the degree of engineer-physicist in 1977 (Faculty of Technical Physics) and Doctor of engineering sciences with the main subject “structural mechanics” at the Novosibirsk State Technical Institute in 1998. He has been a professor at the Department of Building Mechanics (since 2005), head and professor of the Department of Organization and Technology of Higher Vocational Education in the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (2009 – 2019). He was an associate professor of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics, and Vice-Rector for educational technologies and quality management (2003-2005). He has teaching experience in general physics, theoretical mechanics and materials mechanics.
His scientific interests are experimental mechanics, optical methods of mechanics of solids and engineering education. He has been an expert of AEER (Moscow) and he evaluated education programmes in Turkey, Great Britain, Korea, Switzerland, Portugal and Finland. He is a member of the accreditation commission of SPIE and AEER. He was a member of the EUR-ACE Label Committee of ENAEE from 2012 to 2019.
